مزایا و مشکلات کاربرد باکتری Burkholderia cepacia در مزارع

باکتری Burkholderia یک گونه کمپلکس است که خود چندین ژنوموار را در برمی‌گیرد که برای هر یک نقش‌های متنوعی ذکر شده است. ژنوم توسعه یافته این گونه کمپلکس، امکان سازگاری در نیچ‌های مختلف اکولوژیکی از آب، خاک، ترکیبات شیمیائی وغیره تا حضور در بدن انسان را در طی زمان برای آن‌ها ممکن نموده است، اگرچه گونه هایی از باکتری Burkholderia با توانائی تثبیت ازت، تولید سیدروفور و تجزیه آلاینده‌های محیطی پتانسیل با ارزشی در افزایش رشد گیاهان، کنترل بیمارگرهای گیاهی و حفظ سلامت محیط زیست به شمار می‌آید، اما به دلیل بروز مشکلات متعدد در انسان علی الخصوص در بیماران مبتلا به فیبروز کیستی، تهدیدی جدی برای سلامتی انسان محسوب می‌گردد. بنابراین کاربرد آن به عنوان یک عامل بیوکنترل بدون مطالعات تکمیلی توصیه نمی‌گردد.
